Mt. Airy, MD (August 18, 2020) – Last night, August 17, a man was killed in a fatal car crash that happened at an intersection in Mt. Airy.

According to Howard County Police, the collision took place at 8:47 p.m. when a 2013 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Route 27 and attempted to turn left onto Penn Shop Road. The Impala collided with a Subaru Outback also coming through the intersection.

The driver of the Impala was identified as 53-year-old Michael Schultzaberger, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Outback was identified as 56-year-old Lori Cunningham, who was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was closed down in the area for approximately four hours.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
